(Baptised: dipped in, immersed, submerged, steeped or dyed)
Pane transparent, window stained,
Gift of glass dipped in a bain
Of sun-soaked dye, and washed by rain
To lift all sights to hope again;
Colour that I sing – sweet praise,
Lit by streaming love – your gaze,
May I seep that light and raise
All eyes to heaven, by your grace:
Eyes perturbed by doubt or pain,
Footsteps laden by each vein
Of worldly care – the ball, the chain –
Rise to see a glimpse, a glaze
Of your streaming, heavenly rays –
Light eternal of your face.
